Insurance Billing Practices for Sensitive Health Services: Provider Immunity

Loading...

About this dataset:

Many states provide immunity from civil liability to providers and facilities that provide free health care services. Some states may also have provisions in their laws that limit the liability of volunteer health care providers or that may establish mechanisms for free or reduced cost professional malpractice insurance.

This interactive page provides information about the states where health care professionals who provide free services are immune from civil liability, including the type of health care professional qualifying for immunity and the conditions of that immunity. It also indicates whether the immunity is limited to state employees, and provides information about how a provider could lose their immunity.
